Tintype of Young Girl on Hammock

The tintype is clearer and sharper than this scan.  This studio portrait shows a lack of sophistication on the part of the photographer.  Notice the large black post on the floor, extending up and behind the young lady.  This is the stand part of a photographer's head clamp.  Head-clamps were used to prevent the sitter from moving during a long exposure.  It must have worked, because you see her face clearly in the tintype.  But on the other hand, this bold post ruins the mood of the hammock.
